Due to the continued increase of power generation from wind and solar energy, pronounced grid fluctuations are occurring frequently. In combined heat and power generation plants, thermal storages can decouple power generation from the demand of district heat customers. This allows power plants to generate power even if no heat is fed into the grid. The thermal energy occurring when the power is generated is simply stored and used at a later point in time.
Electric boilers and thermal storages relieve grids and allow energy to be used at a later point in time on demand.
